It serves as a natural boundary along the border between Texas and Chihuahua, Mexico.

Locally for El Paso - Las Cruces and surrounding area, Chinmaya Mission Rio Grande conducts Vedanta Classes for adults and Balavihar classes for children from ages 4years and up every Sunday at the El Paso Country Day School, of El Paso except during the summer months. The Activities for fall will resume from September 12th, 2010. There is no registration for adults.

Because of the space restrictions and absence of adequate classroom facility at the Southwest Hindu temple, the Balavihar classes are slated to run temporarily at El Paso Country Day School, 109 Argonaut, El Paso, TX 79912 until further notice. This facilty has separate class rooms with chairs and tables and A-V equipment.
